Skillets Gaskets
The Flange Skillet® is designed to be cost effective and safe. The time and motion saved during installation and centering of the Ring Gasket Holder is enormous. By having a handle on the skillet, a large Finger Safety Factor is enhanced. It also protects the flange by keeping out foreign matter from between the flange faces. The handle has a break-away point at the O.D. of the flange in order to install a flange protector if desired. Both Micarta (non-conductive material) and Steel skillets are available. All sizes larger than 12" in diameter are manufactured using steel.The invention relates generally to a method of fluid sealing channeled flange connectors of adjacent pipe sections of above ground or underwater pipe line sections. The tool also provides for accurate spacing apart of flange connectors fixed to said pipe section ends.
In laying underwater pipelines, movement and vision of the engaged divers are often limited by rolled waters and it is practically impossible to hold opposing connector flanges of adjacent pipe sections relatively stationary while inserting the Ring Gasket Holder sealers in channels defined on said faces and rigidly joining said flanges.
This tool is designed to hold various size RTJ flange gaskets for the safe and positive insertion between two flange faces without putting the installer in danger and to decrease the time of flange up. This will be of extreme benefit when there is poor visibility, heavy motion or awkward positioning of flanges.
